Mr. Berger has extensive experience in corporate finance in Asia having first come to Hong Kong in 1985 with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. At HSBC Mr. Berger focused on corporate banking, trade finance and capital market activities.
In 1992, Mr. Berger joined J.P. Morgan & Co. as an investment banker focused on Southeast Asia which included postings to Hong Kong, Singapore and Jakarta. Through the year 2000, Mr. Berger served as Managing Director in charge of J.P. Morgan’s Southeast Asian investment banking activities and as co-head of J.P. Morgan's Asian M&A business. In this capacity, Mr. Berger advised numerous multinational, regional and sovereign clients on cross-border acquisitions, divestitures, joint-ventures and initial public offerings.
Mr. Berger opened the Singapore office of Imprimis in 2003. Still based in Singapore, Mr. Berger leads Imprimis’ investment management activities while participating in the firm’s advisory activities with global and regional multinational corporations. Mr. Berger is Chairman of the Imprimis Strategic Investment Corporation (NBD) Sdn Bhd, and is Chairman of Piper Aircraft, Inc.
Outside of Imprimis Mr. Berger serves on the Advisory Board to Pinetree Capital Partners, a Singapore-based private equity group and has served as an independent director of Pacific Internet Limited, the largest telco-independent Internet Communications Service Provider in the Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Berger holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and a Master of Arts degree from Trinity College, Cambridge University.

Mr. Gotuaco is a former colleague of Mr. Berger at J.P. Morgan & Co., where he worked for 8 years in the firm’s Southeast Asia investment banking team.
Mr. Gotuaco has extensive experience in both capital markets and investment banking, in both the U.S. and Asia. He began his banking career in 1986 with a six-year stint in New York as a fixed income derivatives trader and risk manager. In 1994, Mr. Gotuaco moved to Asia, where he focused on originating strategic, special purpose transactions for sovereign and corporate clients, including private financings and risk management solutions in the currency, credit, interest rate, commodities, and equities sectors. He also led a diverse range of assignments involving syndicated loans, debt and equity capital markets financings, debt restructurings and exchange offers, and cross-border M&A.
After working at J.P. Morgan & Co. from 1994 to 2002, Mr. Gotuaco joined the Fixed Income Division of Credit Suisse First Boston, where he served from 2002 to 2005. Prior to joining Imprimis, Mr. Gotuaco served as Managing Director and Head of Corporate Coverage for non-Japan Asia, in the Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities (“FICC”) Division of Merrill Lynch. He also served on Merrill Lynch’s FICC Operating Committee for non-Japan Asia.
Mr. Gotuaco is a Director of The Imprimis Strategic Investment Corporation (NBD) Sdn Bhd.
Mr. Gotuaco holds a B.S Economics, summa cum laude, from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mr Berger is based in Brunei and is General Manager of Imprimis (B) Sdn Bhd, Imprimis’ subsidiary in the country. Mr Berger brings to Imprimis an exemplary track record in the financial and operational management of a broad range of industrial enterprises, including the transportation, commodities, and agribusiness sectors. He also has particular experience as an investment advisor to family offices and family-controlled investment vehicles.
Mr Berger’s banking career commenced at Kidder Peabody & Co and Bank of Boston, where for several years he worked in both their mergers and acquisition and corporate finance divisions. His career progressed into the investment management area when, in 1989, he joined Bessemer Capital Partners, a family-owned investment firm, as one of five professionals responsible for undertaking and managing control investments. For six years, Mr Berger also served as the Managing Director of Equinox Capital Partners, where he had a successful track record as a private equity investor in middle market companies.
In 1996, Mr Berger founded the Boston Boatworks, an ultimately profitable custom boat building enterprise which we subsequently divested in 2000.
Mr Berger obtained a B.A. Fine Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. |
